What childhood imaginaries do those who create television content for children hold?

Before creating any artistic content for children, it is essential to ask what childhood means or represents to us as creators. This research will allow you to reflect on your own childhood imaginaries and discover how the concept of childhood and its symbolic representation have evolved throughout history in Western culture.

Social imaginaries are an innovative concept recently applied in ethnographic studies, which allow us to identify the actions, desires, affections, ideas, and representations that a society has around a specific topic.
Studies on childhood social imaginaries make us reflect, rethink, and discuss the notion of childhood we have in today’s society, to propose and promote new understandings about their world and how they relate to adults and their peers.

This study explores the social imaginary of childhood present in educational and cultural television produced in Colombia.
